7th Annual Sperry Quarter Horse
Sale Results
On a mild summer day with the badlands in the
background, Sperry Horses held their 7th Annual Sale in
Medora, ND on August 15. Selling that day was 54 Performance Horses, 13
weanlings, and 6 bred broodmares.
New this year was a ranch horse competition on
Saturday morning. Lot 1, Tivios Dun Son owned by Sperry Horses took
first. Lot 10, King Baucus Reward owned by Sperry Horses was awarded 2nd
place. Coming in with a tie for third place was Lot 52, Baileys Poco
Joe owned by Turner Performance Horses and Lot 5, Docs King Bert owned
by Sperry Horses.
What a success it was combining the Invitational
Consignment Sale with the Sperry offering for a one day event. The
performance horses averaged $3879.63 and weanlings averaged $688. Not
only did the hoses sell well, a scholarship in honor of Kyle “Bud”
Sperry was auctioned off raising over $12,000.
Top Selling Performance Horses:
#1 was Lot 1, Tivios Dun Son selling to Pete and
Wyatt Rising of Culbertson, MT for $17,000
#2 was Lot 86, MFO Chinks consigned by Turner
Performance Horses, selling for $9,250 to Bill Jorgenson of Watford
City, ND
#3 was Lot 26, Montana Maverick consigned by Leanin
Pole Arena, selling to Nathan Schlosser of Mandan, ND bringing $8,300.
Top 5 averaged: $9,910
Top 10 averaged: $7,940
The highest selling foal was a red roan stud colt
out of Millie N Docs Oak selling to D&S Cattle Co. of Hysham, MT for
$1,600. A sell highlight was “Silverbelly”, a roan pony that could do
anything selling to Casey Gjermundson of Richardton, ND for $8,000.
